Track Name: The Deepest Level of the Quarry
Tell yourself, slowly.
Tell yourself: I know what I am.
Do you feel like the only one who's prepared to admit
That they don't know what they want?

Present yourself, wholly.
What's left to hide except the mundane?
Bury me under a hundred filters and then convince everyone
This is who I'm meant to be.

This could be the only chance that we have to prepare.
Now that the whole world can see,
It turns me cold in my sleep,
If I ever get there.
Track Name: Knives
Storm damage, exposed roots,
Wait until the eleventh hour to face,
Any number of painful home truths,
But I can't fight them now.

I'm holding onto something I know might as well be long gone.
There are regrets in my heart, pretend that I have none.
And now I'm carving out the best parts,
With the bluntest of knives.

Now I need something to pull me out of the fire.
It's happening now and I'm not ready to die.
If we are nothing without hope,
Why did you let yours go?

Cold coffee and shoulders too.
Worn out welcomes 'cause you never really could hide your face.
But experiences change you,
If you would just let them in.

My puzzle's screaming "missing piece", I just ignore it and sang,
A dozen questions left unanswered, I just left them to hang,
Up in the air, above the open palm I'm holding out for you
To read and then weep.

Now I need something to pull me out of the fire.
It's happening now and I'm not ready to die.
If we are nothing without hope,
Why did you let yours go?
Track Name: Collapse
I missed the boat and now it's too late to swim out.
It's way too rough in the water.
I'd talk to you, but I might choke,
So could you talk to me instead?
I'd do my best to try and stay afloat,
It's the least I can do.

They said they found you drunk in your bedroom,
Hay said that you were calling my name,
I tried to sing but my lungs were empty,
Collapsing from the inside again.

I faced the vote and now it's too late to start to get cold feet or second thoughts,
The motion stands.
And all it needs is a little honesty or inward reflectivity
To fill that heart-shaped cavity that's growing in your chest.

They said they found you drunk in your bedroom,
Trembling and soaked to the skin,
I tried to sing but my lungs were empty
Collapsing from the inside again.

You're old enough to give up on your childish fears and selfish dreams,
It doesn't matter what you believe, you had still better pray
That someone else is gonna have to pay.

It seems we're sick,
But not quite sick enough to warrant your professional help,
For what it's worth, I've always been this way,
And now it does not matter what you believe,
You'd better pray that someone else will pay.
Track Name: Playing Dead
I'd like to close my eyes and not think about death,
Or hold my breath when the phone rings,
Who is coming for next?
I'd like to close my eyes and see if I just fall,
Before I know it, I'm drowning from the comfort of my own bed.

I know we might have said some things inside the heat of the moment,
That stunned us into a silence and filled us both with regret,
And you are free to criticise just so long as you do it with some genuine feeling,
I appreciate your help.

Now it's your turn to shake this off,
Forget what I said,
Are you sleeping soundly or playing dead?
Now it's your turn to shake this off,
Forget what I said,
Are you sleeping soundly or playing dead?

I'd like to close my eyes and not think about how
It seemed like you were healing slowly until I said it out loud,
You can start off slowly, just let it all out,
You don't have to be silent; you don't have to be scared.

But they've been giving me the runaround,
I've had some demons to contend with,
Hiding round corners, placing traps,

How long have I been driving up and down,
With a missing door on the driver's side, pretending everything is alright?

Now it's your turn to shake this off,
Forget what I said,
Are you sleeping soundly or playing dead?
Now it's your turn to shake this off,
Forget what I said,
Are you sleeping soundly or playing dead?
Track Name: Dive
I am not comfortable,
With having my teeth ripped out in my sleep,
Or showing signs of age,
Things I was certain I knew start to change.

It's all part of a cycle,
I took my time but now it's plain to see,
Though this may seem hypocritical,
And that my words are the last you should heed.

But I saw a plane crash in more than one of my dreams,
Then slowly the years passed,
Now, let's make up for giving.

We all feel it,
Just don't let it own you,
This fear that controls you.

Why am I absent at all?
We want to go out but we're staring at screens,
Put trust in your own counsel,
Absence and change still remains to be seen.

But I don't think we're made to conquer,
Despite what I've heard people preach,
You know it's okay to observe,
Just make sure you dive in eventually.

I studied your pictures,
That hung from your wall by a pin,
You know it's okay to observe,
Just make sure you dive in eventually.

We all feel it,
Just don't let it own you,
This fear that controls you.
When you're beat up and bruised.
I will be aching too.

We all feel it.
Track Name: Rosalie's Escape
You can stand in the glow of the streetlight,
If you feel you've been left in the dark,
Take a load off your feet and just sit tight.

Nothing hits you quite as hard as the first time,
If the bad days sneak back in, let them come,
'Cause the smile on your face says we'll be alright.

Open your lungs,
Escape from your body,
Take what you want,
Take it and run.

Now, Rosalie, don't go,
I can see your poisoned soul,
And although my hand is cursed,
I will promise to fix you first.

You can stand in the glow of the streetlight,
If you feel you've been truly left in the dark,
But you won't feel truly free,
'Til the end is in sight.

Open your lungs,
Escape from your body,
Take what you want,
Take it and run.

Take it and run.
Track Name: Face Down
I'm looking for a line to hold on to,
When it's easier to keep on swimming,
Than to surface and face the truth.

Is it you or me that's dying?
'Cause I don't feel a thing.
Would I leave you lying there, defeated?
Will we look back and say we truly knew there was something going on?
We're playing on your fears tonight.

I'll carry this water inside my lungs,
I owe a single drop for every second lost,
Waiting for me to float upwards.

Is it you or me that's dying?
'Cause I don't feel a thing.
Would I leave you lying there, defeated?
Will we look back and say we truly knew there was something going on?
We're playing on your fears tonight.
Track Name: No-One in Particular
Do you see yourself in your father's shows?
Should I see myself in mine?
'Cause I see you standing,
In boots made of concrete,
I'm scared to step into mine.

What would you die for?
What would you give yourself to?
When was the last time you were sure about anything?
I'd drink every last drop,
I'd do anything to please you,
or anyone else,
or no-one in particular.

Do you ever see yourself in some kind of waiting room?
Bending, almost broken but not quite,
Are you content to be sleeping from morning 'til evening?
Make sure you're careful when you're closing the gate,
'Cause your day is someone else's night.

What would you die for?
What would you give yourself to?
When was the last time you were sure about anything?
I'd drink every last drop,
I'd do anything to please you,
or anyone else,
or no-one in particular.

No-one in particular.

When was the last time you were sure?
Track Name: Blood & Dust
You pick the lock and i'll wait,
A last, desperate attempt to leave this place,
But I'm still a fake, a fraud, a pretender.
With just a few, thin fleeting thoughts that flock, then scatter.

The distance is growing,
I hope it doesn't show too much,
We can't afford to sit back and ignore.

I didn't wake up in blood & dust,
And I have never felt loss the way that you have,
But if we are who we say we are,
Then it falls on us to fill the cracks,
Instead of folding our arms as we turn away.

The distance is growing,
I hope that it doesn't show too much,
We can't afford to sit back and ignore.

The distance is growing,
I hope that it doesn't show too much,
We can't afford to sit back and ignore.
Now it's out in the open,
That I picked a side but still don't know how to fight,
With just a few worthless words.
Still, it's better than nothing.
Track Name: Shapes
Restless movement keeps me awake,
And I get lost in memories I have of plastic figurines,
Laying face down in the dust,
Nothing reminds me of you like that old car parked in the driveway,
As it slowly succumbs to the rust.

With our hands, we made shapes against a bedroom light,
Amongst the shadows on the wall, I caught a glimpse of our future lives,
And with our hands, we made all those plans.

Nervous movement keeps giving me away,
And I can't shake this memory I have of running towards your house through knee-high grass,
Dragging my hands,
I didn't feel the cuts,
I know I should have come home when the news had spread,
I can't escape the feeling that we broke apart instead of drifted.

With our hands, we made shapes against a bedroom light,
Amongst the shadows on the wall, I caught a glimpse of our future lives,
And with our hands, we made all those plans.
